Formal Recruitment
Week of Sept. 14, 2020

Alpha Sigma Alpha is a women’s organization that exists to promote high ideals and standards for its members throughout their lives by emphasizing balance among the four aims of intellectual, physical, spiritual and social development. Alpha Sigma Alpha provides structure and excitement through:

  • Sisterhood: a strong bond of unconditional friendship based on common values and experiences
  • Heritage: expressed through creed, ritual and history
  • Opportunities: for leadership and involvement in chapter, campus and community

Membership

Membership in Alpha Sigma Alpha offers many opportunities to make a difference on campus and in the community through leadership, service, and relationships. Members develop leadership and communication skills that are beneficial for their futures in the workplace as well as everyday life. Alpha Sigma Alpha develops women of poise and purpose who strive to continue improving the world around them.

There are numerous opportunities to hold an elected or appointed office, chair and serve on committees within the Theta Eta chapter. There are also opportunities to attend leadership conferences, officer academies or national conventions.

Membership Requirements:

  • Must be a full time student and have a 2.5 GPA.
  • Potential new members must also receive a bid before being accepted for membership into the chapter.

Intellectual Development

Intellectual development is one of the four aims of Alpha Sigma Alpha. Our members are challenged to strive for their best intellectual development through setting high academic goals, regular classroom attendance and class participation. Chapters focus on academic achievement through incentive programs, study buddies, recognition, tutoring, and study skills education.

Philanthropy

Special Olympics:

One of Alpha Sigma Alpha’s national philanthropies remains important to our members long after they graduate. Each year, the Special Olympics touches lives in hundreds of communities across the nation and around the world, and each year hundreds of Alpha Sigma Alpha members make a difference to this important organization. The Theta Eta chapter is a sponsor for the Rogers County Special Olympics.

Girls on the Run:

Our members also contribute their time and talents to Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. The Theta Eta chapter often makes bracelets, motivational cards, and scrunchies to send to girls as encouragement for running!
