B.S. Community Counseling

“I saved Internship II until my last semester.  I thought that would give me a better chance of getting hired at DHS.  I was lucky enough to be placed with a great group of DHS workers who all offered to be references for me when I applied for a permanent position.  RSU taught me so much, I felt prepared going into this field (child welfare). This type of job puts you in a role of major responsibility – taking care of kids!  We work with parents to achieve their safety plans and get them needed assistance to get their kids back in their care.  This is exactly what I went to school for!”Internships are an important part of learning; they provide students the opportunity to practice skills and experience how theories learned in class are demonstrated in the real world.”

Each student majoring in psychology, sociology or community counseling will complete two internship experiences before graduating.

Internships are supervised under the Social and Behavioral Science course numbers SBS 4033 (Internship I) and SBS 4043 (Internship II).
